šŸ”¬ Chemical Anatomy of a Peptide Residue on the Line

Covalent Backbone Architecture

Every character in PeptideChain represents an authentic biochemical amino acid building block. Here is the exact chemical meaning of all the marks along the horizontal line:

━━
The Main Backbone Line (Y = 280)
The continuous covalent polypeptide chain (-N-Cα-C-). Runs from X=0 to X=1000 with 0 gap across letters.
šŸ”µ
Amide Nitrogen (-NH-) at X = 200
The backbone nitrogen with its downward proton (Amide Hydrogen). In proteins, this is the hydrogen bond donor.
🟣
Alpha-Carbon (Cα) at X = 500
The central chiral stereocenter. The downward notch is the stereospecific α-Hydrogen (Hα); the upward stalk connects the R-group.
šŸ”“
Carbonyl Group (C=O) at X = 800
The carbonyl carbon with dual double-bond lines extending to the Carbonyl Oxygen sphere. This is the hydrogen bond acceptor.
🟢
Variable Side Chain (R-Group)
Extends vertically from Cα into the variable field: rings, thiols, carboxylates, alcohols, or aliphatic forks.
⚔
Alternating Trans Conformation
UPPERCASE ('A'-'Z') = sidechain UP. lowercase ('a'-'z') = sidechain DOWN! Type [MkFlV] for alternating trans-pleats!

šŸš€ Release v1.1.0 (Current Production) Stable
  • PeptideChain Font: Added dedicated biochemistry polypeptide font with all 20 standard amino acids, N/C-terminus caps, and seamless covalent backbone linking.
  • Alternating Trans-Conformations: Uppercase ('A'-'Z') renders sidechains UP; lowercase ('a'-'z') renders sidechains DOWN, enabling authentic pleated sheet conformations (e.g. [MkFlV]).
  • Physical Upright Posture Invariants: Corrected vertical orientation for Test Tube ('T'), Centrifuge Tube ('C'), Phospholipid ('F'), Bacteriophage ('V'), Sperm ('S'), and Micropipette ('1') so openings, caps, and heads point upright.
  • Distinct Horizontal vs Vertical Geometries: Redesigned Ribosome ('R'/'r'), Petri Dish ('P'/'p'), Red Blood Cell ('Z'/'z'), and Ovum ('O'/'o') to ensure 100% of alphabet pairs possess distinct horizontal vs vertical dimensions.
  • Lipid Bilayer Mechanics: Added upper leaflet ('F'), lower leaflet ('_'), and automatic dual-leaflet membrane bilayer GSUB ligature ('ff').
  • OpenType GSUB Ligatures: Added support for 3-letter IUPAC codes (Ala, Cys, Met) and functional motifs (RGD, KDEL, FLAG, GSG).
  • Automated Test Suite: Added pure Node.js test suite in test/ verifying all font tables, geometry invariants, and ligatures in under 100ms.
